Personal information

For those of you who like to know who they are dealing with I have summarized a bit of personal information. You can also log into LinkedIn to see my profile by pressing here.

My name is Leon Zijlmans, male, 56 years young and married with Marianne. We have two sons, one born in 1981, named Kjell and the other born in 1982 and named Jorn. I studied business economics in Tilburg at the K.U.B. and worked as logistics manager and financial manager in a variety of companies, like NeoResins, Uniekaas, Natudis and Udea. Since the middle of 2008 I work for People 4 Earth, a non-profit organization for sustainable products and services in Ermelo. In my spare time I usually can be found in my hobby room where most of my collection is stored (see picture) or driving my TVR.

Besides being a serious collector interested in car cards and catalogues I also like to travel, drive my TVR convertible sportscar and eat outdoors. We have been in the USA and Canada on vacation five times now and I love this continent. In 2003 we visited Australia and this was great fun too. We also spent many of our holidays at the westcoast of France and recently quite a lot in Sweden.

Since 1998 I am the proud owner of a yellow TVR 280i S2 sportscar, that I have imported from the USA after buying it from it's first owner in Michigan. The car now carries the Dutch registration number TX-VD-79 and has just covered 40.000 miles since new.
Below you see me in my TVR in front of our house in Drunen.

I have been driving 8 different Volkswagen cars (a black Beetle 1303, various Golf models in blue, gray and purple, three Jetta models in black and white and a Vento GT in black), but I also owned a white 1979 Honda Civic Stationwagon (one of only 7 in Holland at the time and a US grey import), a blue Volvo V40 and a gray Audi A4 TDi. I also had a white (now fashionable again!) 2001 Renault Laguna Grand Tour dCi 6-speed, the one pictured below. Then I was driving a black 2006 VW Jetta TDi for my business travel and I also own a 1st generation (2005) black Seat Leon FR (for 'formula racing') with 180 horsepower and a top speed of 229 km/hour.

My current lease car is a 2007 Volvo S40 in black with the 1,8 liter flexifuel engine. My small contribution to the environment because Tamoil, the sole oil company selling E85 in Holland uses second generation bio-ethanol to produce this much cleaner fuel. This fuel is very popular in Sweden (hence the many models of both Saab and Volvo that are available for E85) and it is also cheaper due to government subsidy.

On the picture below you see me in our garden on my original and now 40 years old Puch moped, which I still have in my possession. I got it on my 16th birthday and it is still in fairly good condition and runs well.
